Having been first inspired by the shadows of trees she observed on grass, she spent months delving into a technique thatconversely didn't present the chosen object as a two-dimensional image on canvas. It is more like the image has been transformed to the artist's own image which is based its interpretation from the artist. This works best for objects that are living as well as items that have a shelf life like fruits and people. The style that Alexa paints is very ephemeral. Only the photos of her work remain. The painting and photography techniques are closely coordinated and result in a flat two-dimensional area that is trompe l'oeil. Certain areas of the photo like hair and eyes, reveal the 3D dimension. Sometimes, Meade integrates her painted models with the 3-dimensional world around them, allowing them to engage with their own self-created environment. In this way, she blurs the lines between photography, painting installation and performance.
