While she didn't go home with an "American Idol" title, Kellie Pickler was one of the show's best alumni. Kellie Pickler was born on June 28th, 1986 in Stanly Memorial Hospital Albemarle. Her parents are Cynthia Morton and Clyde Raymond Pickler. Her mother was barely sixteen when she fell pregnant with her. Pickler was a troubled child because of her drug and alcohol dependency, as the mother of her child abandoned her around age two. Morton had custody of her for a period of two years, but Pickler claimed that her life was unsettling. "I recall my mother and me were in the same kitchen, and I told her "I'd rather die than being here with you. I'd like God took me off.' She took out a kitchen knife and put it in the middle of the counter. Then she said: "Here you go." The time was fourth grade. It's a shame I didn't make a decision based on that. The incident left lasting scars on my heart. Pickler ended up being given to her grandparents after she reached the age of 12. Morton failed to appear in the court hearing. Pickler was raised by her grandparent's all through her life. They are cited as being the most influential people within her lifetime. The year was January 2002 when her maternal grandmother Faye Pickler passed away from lung cancer. Her family was led by her grandfather. Pickler was a graduate of the North Stanly High School located at New London, North Carolina.
